Hi, my name is Vicky

My artwork is inspired by colour, shapes and forms especially from nature. These help me to create paintings in an impressionistic, often figurative, or abstract style.

I also create collage work when exploring a particular event as I find the deed of tearing or cutting an act of energy which is part of the story I am depicting. This is similar to wet felting. The process is long and energetic which is also part of the story I’m portraying in my artwork. Most of my felted mixed media artworks are about the feelings I had in the unique experiences when either snorkelling, or brief time diving. These pieces have been exhibited at various galleries in Birmingham, Kenilworth, Royal Leamington Spa, Warwick, and Coventry. I have also exhibited in the esteemed contemporary Ikon Gallery, Birmingham; and The Herbert Museum & Art Gallery, Coventry.

I’m also an FE lecturer teaching drawing, painting, and crafts. In addition, over the years, I have taught art and craft in the community in Birmingham, Solihull, and Warwickshire.

I graduated with BA(Hons) from the University of Central England (formerly Birmingham Polytechnic) many years ago! I went on to complete PGCE(PCE) and have thoroughly enjoyed teaching art and craft ever since!

My private art classes opened in Solihull town centre January 2018. I currently run small workshops specialising in beginners watercolours locally for small groups of adults over 19+ years. During summer months I run on-location drawing and painting workshops in and around Solihull on Saturday’s. Please drop me a line using the Contact page for further information.
