The Studio Gallery Solihull is coming together well with such a wonderful selection of artwork! Acrylic paintings, watercolour, oil pastels, glass work, and felting from seven local artists.
The window display is almost set and it’s bright and eye catching! Featuring one piece from each artist.
So, instead of saying ex-Lakeland Plastics it’s now most definitely Studio Gallery Solihull 🎉
Next instalment of Studio Gallery Solihull! It’s all shaping up nicely, with so many of us working well together getting the preliminary jobs done!
None of us have started from scratch with a previously owned shop unit before and the cleaning and general preparation needed for good presentation is key! Delivery of original artwork and crafts is programmed in once the furniture has been delivered over the weekend with the shop window display going ahead on Tuesday morning!
Each of us are now selecting our own artwork for display inside the gallery, having now sectioned the space per artist in the Touchwood Shopping Centre unit, Solihull. It’s very exciting but also a relief to have made great strides into our new venture!
Next instalment will have opening days and photos!
Studio Gallery Solihull! We are setting up a collective of 9 artists from Solihull!
We have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity of using a large shop unit in the Touchwood shopping centre right in the heart of Solihull Town Centre!
We will be there to talk to visitors and showcase our artwork which will be available to purchase. We have studio space too so some of us will be busy creating too.
I’ll let you know how we’re getting on preparing the unit as we go along! The excitement is growing for the new Studio Gallery Solihull!

Having visited the newly erected Birmingham Light external exhibition in Victoria Square on Tuesday in central Birmingham, and seen the fantastic array of artists work (Pear) – I hope that more councils will see and understand the many benefits of involving artists to create artwork that brightens up large public areas!
I relaxed in the seating areas and soaked up the atmosphere. I witnessed visitors slowing down, pausing, enjoying the newly found breathing space in the busy business area of the Second City in England. The range of 2D artwork providing something appealing to everyone.
Thanks to Central BID , and Colmore BID, together with Ruth Millington, for their funding and vision. I hope other councils will take your lead.
